Visa advice required please...

Hello, I read the forums and found them to be quite helpful but was wanting some clarfication as to the best way of going about getting a visa.

I'm going on a safari in Africa in November to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi/Zimbabwe (the trip runs close to the border of both countries - maybe it won't go through Zimbabwe due to the problems there at the moment?) Tanzania and Kenya.

I have a UK passport and from what I can gather, I only need a visa for Kenya and Tanzania. Could anybody let me know the best way to get a visa for these countries? Is it possible to fill out a form and give them money at a border or must I do it in advance? The cost of buying it in England is massively inflated, It will cost over £100 to buy a visa for these countries in England, yet it will only cost around £25 to buy one on entry to Kenya/Tanzania...

So yeah, can anybody offer me some advice? I'm crossing overland and not by place so don't know if that changes anything?

Thanks,Mitch.

You have to check each country's High Commission site to determine whether with a UK passport, you require a Visa.

Can't advise for UK passport holders, but believe you do need for Zambia, it's back to USD$35; definitely for Kenya @ USD$25 and Tanzania @ USD$50. You'll have to verify the others.

You can purchase all of these on arrival each country. Download the forms from the respective Embassy websites, complete and present with your passport and funds on entry. No photos are required when purchasing on site.

And, MOST IMPORTANT - if transiting between these countries, you will require a Yellow Fever inoculation and proof of same for entry. YF inocs are expensive, but they're good for 10/years.

DON'T FORGET YOUR MALARIA MEDS for the duration of your holiday thru Africa and for set amount of days once back home (different depending on the med you take).

Get your visas upon arrival. It is easy, saves money and you don't part with your passport. Sandi gave great detailed advice.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Is it necessary to download the forms before I go, or can I complete forms on arrival?

Of course you can complete forms on arrival, but you never know whether they're available, sufficient for all who need, and whether you have a pen to do so.

Take the 2/min. needed and complete these ahead of time.
