Viator tour company

Looking for a touring company for a couple of days in Johannesburg to see the city and especially Mandela sights. Viator has popped up a couple of times. Anyone familiar with it? We thought we could do the Apartheid Museum ourselves and have the hotel recommend a car or cab to take us there and back and not take an organized tour for that as we do not want to be under any kind of time limit but visiting other sights we thought a tour would be beneficial and needed. Would like to see Soweto and other things on tour. Any thoughts or recommendations. Not interested in a a tour outside of Jo'burg as we will be joining our Africa tour company in Botswana for the rest of the time in Africa but Jo'burg is on our own. Leaving September 8th

Viator is not a tour company -- they are a re-seller of other tours (like a ticket agent).

So when you see a tour on viator.com . . . it is just a tour offered by an actual tour operator.

Check with your hotel about tours. I'd always rather give my money to a local company rather than Viator.

Have a look at Hylton Ross - they were great when I used them in Cape Town.

I have used Viator many times all over the world. It is so comforting if you need a taxi and are leaving the baggage area at an airport to have someone there with a sign and your name on it. You can be assured you are safe and your fare has been prepaid through Viator. Yes, they make their share moneywise but they are hiring local people who are "vetted". Also, I have been at airports which by the time you exit all the taxis are taken and gone.

Last year we did a day trip from Prague and our guide was fabulous - that was prepaid also.

So, I am a big fan of Viator.
