ca_vol,
When you are you going? Any chance we'll cross paths?
The only suggestion I have is to add the golden monkeys to your last day at PNV before you head to Kigali.
I was told you would see golden monkeys while looking for gorillas. Untrue?!?!
We are planning on going July 2009.
Okay, I just read you can see monkeys in Kibale Forest. Can you see them on the chimp treks or is it another area?
I don't know about Kibale. I thought Kibale was chimp tracking only. I was told I should plan on going for a golden monkey trek while at PNV. I am planning that for my last day, hence my two nights in Kigali, so I can have a day to go to the Memorial and other sites.
I asked about dates because I read that during rainy season (when I'll be traveling, not you) that you aren't likely to see tree climbing lions in Ishasha.
I saw that about the tree climbing lions on that thread you gave me. We are going during the drier season, so I guess we'll keep it?! I feel so in the dark here.
ca_vol,
Your itinerary looks good to me! - It is pretty much the same as the trip we have booked, but ours is in reverse order and we are staying more nights in PNV and Bwindi.
We had to drop an overnight stay at Ishasha to fit in a stay at Ngamba Island at the end.
On another post you were asking about Kibale Bandas. I think that they have been upgraded as part of Kibale Primate Lodge www.ugandalodges.com
We are staying there, but in a tent.
Re game drives in QEP - We are not expecting to see the equivalent of what we have seen in other places. We will concentrate on seeing what is special for that area, like Uganda Kob.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking of adding Ngama Island but worry about the price.
Ngamba isn't cheap. You can do a day trip, or stay overnight. Lodging isn't expensive, but once you add the boat transfer and the forest walk, it adds up. However, I've read on a few threads that Ngamba Island, and the forest walk in particular, were the highlights of people's trips.
I've decided not to go to Ngamba, but thanks anyway.
