Trips from Marrakech

Hi

We are going to Marrakech for 2 weeks in May and we are hoping to do a few day trips / overnight trips during our stay.

I suppose I have 2 questions:

1) what trips would people recommend

2) what's the best way to book the trips (eg before leaving the UK or when we are in Morocco?)

Any information would be really appreciated!

Hi,
Don't rush to book any day trips, you can just book your accommodation from UK once you'll be in Morocco you can do your homework and pick up the best with the cheapest price better than getting ripped off.
Best Day trips recommended are :
for day trips, you can either go to Essaouira, Imlil, Ourika, Ouzoud Falls, Ouiregin.
But now you have two weeks, i'd suggest to do a desert tour to enjoy the Erg Chebbi and the thousand kasbahs road.

Erg Chebbi is not to be missed. Especially with a camel ride out into the dessert and overnight there--a highlight.

Suggest spending some time with guidebooks - Lonely Planet and Rough guide for starters. Marrakesh isn't a great base for day trips, most places of interest are too far, aside from Essaouira, which merits an overnight, and Imlil, ditto if you want to hike.
