I'm leaving for a trip to Vienna, Armenia and Iran on Saturday...the itinerary for Iran is already organized but because it's a private guided trip it is flexible, (Tehran, Esfahan, Zagros mountains with nomads, Shiraz, Kerman, Bam, Yadz, Tehran) ...we only have a week in Armenia.
Has anyone travelled to Iran recently and if so do you have any last minute advice or suggestions for small gifts... Was there somewhere you wished you'd had more time...or a place you would particularly avoid?
Pleased don't flame me and tell me we're crazy to go...we've heard it all already!
I will post a trip report when I get back.

Hi
You will have great trip.
I used to live there before the Revolution. Showing my age.
With regard to souvenirs there is some great handmade wooden boxes with intricate inlay (like mosaic) and silver with turquoise stones are also fabulous.
Happy hunting.
