TRIP REPORT-EGYPT DAY 1-3

So far so great. Everything is great so far. First night got off flight and spent the nite at a very small hotel. Ate falafels and swer??? (basically, shaved meat) in a wrap. both were incredible. it was from a local shop. next day just walked the streets all day and explored cairo after transfering to Nabila hotel. walked the Nile by night and drank ahwa (coffee) at a local neighborhood place. we also dodged traffic, which everyone on here told us not to do. we stood for 15 min before we got the guts to cross a 4 lane highway of speeding car, buses, trucks, bicycles, etc...barely survived. and what's worse is we did it more than once. we also noticed the difference in horn beeps. some beeps mean coming through, some mean stay in your lane, some are saying hello and some are just downright get the hell out of my way. next day saw the awesome pyramids and rode camels around the area. what an amazing experience. i don't think a person can really grasp how awesome they are until you stand in front of them. i know i didn't. also went to step pyramids, carpet, papyrus and essence making places. also ate lots of food: sheep intestines filled with rice, some type of bean, hummus, koshary, babaghanoush, and a bunch of other stuff. all were great. tonight we are trying pigeon. also took a nile cruise last night. but the best part of the trip so far was actually visiting an orphange and being able to give back. we come here and they are happy to receive us. so we thought it would be appropriate to give back and say thx.

today we toured kali bazaar, citadel, mohammad mosque, old cairo (coptic christian area), took a fulucca ride and egyptian museum. tomorrow we are off to luxor to tour valley of king/queens, luxor temple, hatsepshut's temple, valley of ram headed sphinx, temple karnak and other treasures. plz excuse my spelling... anyway, so far we are having a great time. we've met alot of locals. when you come here, just know that the people are extremely nice and easy to talk to. i'm sure we'll be back again.

Love your report - I haven't been in 20+ years (not sure how the time got away), so it's nice to hear about the details. The traffic and multiple honk meanings haven't changed!
