Travel to Petra

Jump to last reply

I am supposed to stay a couple of days in Jerusalem in March this year partcipating in some conference.
I would like to arrange a trip from Jerusalem to Petra in Jordan. Because of lack of time, I will have probably only one free day.
Is it sufficient to get to Petra and back to Jerusalem in one day? And how to arrange this trip?
Through some local travel agency, or to go by my own way by bus. I will not have Jordan visa in my passport. Is it possible to get it on Jordan border?
How expensive is it, and how expensive the whole trip could be?
Thank anyone any information.
