Was fairly anxious about it before,but the hideous Palestinian attack in Jerusalem today really put the frosting on the cake. We probably will come anyway, I will quake and my husband's attitude is,"what will be will be". We are both semi-retired seniors and feel we want to make this trip before we can't do it anymore.

Can you tell me what to expect? We are planning to come at the end of October. What is the weather like and what type of clothing do you suggest for that time of year?

Any conflict can flare up at anytime just about anywhere nowdays; it's hard to predict. We were in Israel last year just a few days after the controversial elections and just after the bombings of Lebanon by Israeli forces. But we had no problem. It sounds cliche, but you just have to take it one day at a time. Just use common sense when walking around and if you're unsure if a certain area is safe on a given day, just ask your hotel concierge. And if you spend all your time worrying about your safety, you won't enjoy your trip and you'll drive yourself crazy. Take some warm clothes as Jerusalem can get somewhat chilly this time of year. Have fun..

October is a beautiful time in Israel. It's still warm during the day (25 degrees + ) and cooler at night. Leave yourself at least 3 days in Jerusalem and another day or two to go to the Dead Sea and Masada. The desert is truly beautiful and a sunrise and sunset are not to be missed.

Helen, I understand your concern. My daughter and I were in Israel when the bombing occurred. There was heighten viligance on the part of the Israelis, but life went on. You can be careful and listen to what the local people tell you. We had no problems. Go on and enjoy the trip!--Terry Ludlow

I have travelled to Israel at least a dozen times and there have always been 'troubles' and probably always will be..... One thing I am sure of, the minute you step off the plane you will stop 'quaking' and feel very safe, very comfortable and hopefully very happy. Involve yourself, meet the peole and enjoy it. Eat in the restaurants, not the hotels, and start talking to the locals. Israel is the one place in the world where you get out of it what you put into it. If you don't do it you will always regret it. Post on your return and let us know how it went. Shalom.
