Hi,
I went to Ghana for 10 days on business. I think it is one of the safer countries to travel around. I didn't get hassled at all. You will have people bugging you to buy their things, but that is because you are a westerner - not because you are a woman.
I would recommend a few days in Accra and the rest of the time going to the Cape Coast and Kumasi.
Food is very good and people are friendly. Be sure to use lots of mosquito repellent!
I was just there Dec 2003/Jan 2004 and had absolutely no problems being female and traveling alone. Will return in winter 2004/2005. Great place...great people...rich in history!
