What has been your experience traveling during the month of April or early May to these twc oontries in terms of weather and wildlife viewing?
Thanks in advance - Carol

For Botswana you can expect Warm days with cool nights; Namibia is Mosty Dry with cold nights and possible showers in April - May.

Namibia has very little rain to begin with so whatever they get they need. There are also different environments here and you don't mention where exactly in Namibia you will be traveling.

Likewise you don't say where you'll be visiting in Botswana. But your tour operator should be able to give you better information.

That said, there are still no guarantees as to weather, nor how many animals you might or might not see. Animals and have their own schedules. You might see more animals at one place, less at another; or lots of all species of animals everywhere. And then there might be some animals you just don't see.

It took mee four (4) trips to Africa before I saw my first leopard.

How did you know what two countries Carol was referring to?
I can't see anything in the header or message? Am I being dense again?

Carol it's totally cool - no criticism intended at all - I'm just curious about HOW Sandi knew what you meant!

ESP!!! Not really. I believe Carol posted another thread where she mentioned the countries she'd be visiting, but then maybe it wasn't Carol and it was ESP!

In fact until I read your comment and rechecked Carol's question did I notice she didn't mention the countries.

Boy, that's scary!

The weather info is basically as I mentioned, but note that the Souss is desert, so do expect chilly evenings; and don't be surprised to find fog along the Skelton Coast.

Hmmm... Believing in ESP is more fun!

Wish I could comment Carol but we visited in early June last year and will be visiting in second half of June this year.

At that time we had great game viewing in Botswana (we didn't really visit game viewing areas in Namibia) and great weather in both countries in terms of drives in open vehicles in the day.

It was lovely and warm during the day but not that opressive kind of heat that is too much for both of us. Warm enough to use the pools even in June so should be same in May.

It was coooold at night and in mornings and evenings before sunrise/ after sunset but we weren't cold at night (hot water bottles and decent duvets) and in the cars they gave us VERY warm and thick covers to wear.
