Tours for Cape Town

Would like to start looking at day tours in Cape Town. Definitely Penisula tour. Any experience with local tour operators?

Go with Hylton Ross for any tour(s). They have been around a long time and are simply the best and most reliable!

Our airline crews always use Tim at Friends of Dorothy.

Tim has various day tours all around the cape and overnight ones to the wine and whale country. Tim is Bitish, was a lawyer in Hong Kong and a TV celebrity in Cape Town. He is absolutely amazing in his knowledge and knowing what his audience is interested in. He is such a great tour operator that the newly built Atlantis hotel has him as one of their premier tour agents.Seriously after touring with Tim you will feel as though you have a dear friend in Cape Town.

Although when you go to the website it will say gay tours it is NOT just for that clientale. It is a tour agency that specializes in family;friends, marrieds, singles and even the mixed bag of airline crews. All of my layovers down in CPT we used him and then when I went back with my family we used him. The key to his being a great tour guide is he is so familiar with history, antedotes, etc. which make you realize how much you have learned while being out with him for the day.Seriously, before we stopped flying CPT it used to be a frenzy to see who could book him first when our schedules were released for the next month.Airline crews are a tough crowd so when they find someone that is reasonable and makes a layover come alive for them it is usually a very guarded secret.
I would definitely have him take you down to the penquins at Boulders Beach and the Cape of Good Hope with lunch at the Two Oceans for one day-so much to see and do on the way down there.I would also have him take you out to the wine country for a day with lunch at Le Petite Ferme in Franschoeck.Another great tour is going around the city to the oldest winery and up to Cable Mountain, etc.
You will love love love Cape Town and if you use Tim you will be so glad you had someone who is knowledgable, fun and interesting to spend the day with. His prices are decent;great at potty stops or photo stops. If you want to pick your own places to go to,he is very flexible at designing a tour. Have fun!

I am booked with Cape Eco-tours http://cape-ecotours.co.za/ this August. Mariana offers a range of day trips around Cape Town and surrounding areas.

She is very quick to respond to emails and prepared to tailor itineraries to meet client needs.

Regards,

Pol

I also would suggest Hylton Ross for the very same reasons given by baraca but reading the post from dutyfree sounds like Tim is also a very good choice.

Hylton Ross has a great guide by the name of Wayne Maddams; ask for him and you'll have a great tour.
