We have 3 nights coming up in JNB, staying in Sandton City. I have been to SA 10 years ago on a long business trip and took excursions at the weekends to Pilanesburg/Sun City and been on a balloon trip at Magaliesburg. For my other half though it will be the first visit to SA & we'll do the same excursions but looking for other suggestions on what to do and see. We will not have a car in JNB. Interests: shopping, eating, animals, culture, history.

Sabi Sands for the animals for me simply AWESOME!
On our several Johannesburg stopovers ( before and after safaris) we've hired drivers to take us to the Apartheid Museum, on tours of Soweto,to the Sterkfontein Caves, and to the De Wildt Cheetah Center .
A good list of things to do is found at www.africa.com/johannesburg/city
Apartheid Museum and the Cradle of Humankind.
Arathusa exceptional? In comparison to others (at a price), no. Great value, yes.
