Temporary KLM frequency reduction on flights to NBO and JRO/DAR
I did a quick schedule check and it looks like:
NBO will temporarily be downgraded to 5x weekly service (no Thu/Sat flights). Daily service will resume mid-June.
JRO/DAR will also temporarily be downgraded to 5x weekly service (no Mon/Wed flights). Daily service will resume in May.
Both routes will have aircraft changes once daily service resumes. NBO will go from 772 to A332 and JRO/DAR will go from MD-11 to 772.
I imagine affected passengers will have a choice between changing to another date, receiving a refund or possibly re-accomodated on the same day via Kenya Airways flights.

Temporary meaning it's scheduled to return to daily service later in the spring. I haven't read anything about changes to the EBB service.
Thanks, Alejandra. Looks like KQ AMS-NBO returns to daily service in July.

Guess with East Africa going into the wet season (often meaning less travelers) and downturn in numbers after the Kenya upheavals... they've made a business decision. And, then to return to regular schedules from end-May forward.

Leaving Kenya is sad enough so a direct flight ( yes luckily home is the Netherlands & Belgium) is neccesary for me! I returned on the KL flight last saturday and actually got a free upgrade to Business, i was in the upper deck on the 747 and there were only 5 other passengers.

I returned on the KL flight last saturday
Welcome back! Where's your trip report?
i was in the upper deck on the 747 and there were only 5 other passengers
Sounds even worse than earlier this year Our flight back in Feb had maybe 4 empties upstairs but I know at least 3 of us were from the canceled KQ CDG flight and at least 1 was KL crew.

Just FYI - KL565 AMS-NBO and KL566 NBO-AMS will be operated by a KQ (Kenya Airways) 772 through the end of May. This is due to KL having to undergo safety inspections on their 744 fleet resulting in a shortage of aircraft. That means KQ will be temporarily operating both the KL flights (5x weekly currently) as well as their own KQ116 NBO-AMS and KQ117 AMS-NBO flights (4x weekly currently). KQ has downgraded the equipment for their own 116/117 flights to a 767 (this may have happened earlier but I just noticed it).

I was able to get the Northwest/KLM agent to book my seat on the new segment with Kenya Air that will fly AMS to NBO. It's a Friday flight and the equipment will be a Boeing 777. It was listed as Kenya Air (KQ) on my e-ticket, but was then changed online by the agent to a KLM flight number(still Kenya Air). I was happy to get the new seat assignment. It will be interesting to see how full the flight will be on May 30.
