Tanzanian Coffee Withdrawl
Just finished up the last of the Tanzanian coffee we brought back and the withdrawl symptoms are beginning!! Any good sources for mail order/Fair Trade coffee a plus? Tried Googling, but was overwhelmed.

I don't have an answer to your question, but you have answered one for my husband! Just today he was worrying that we wouldn't have good coffee available in Tanzania. (We leave in two days... I'm excited...) ~o)

Virginia, The Arusha airport sold 1 pound bags, various flavors and some with spices from Zanzibar, mmmmmmmmmm good!!!! They made great gifts, but don't last long... Perhaps another Fodorite will know a good place for you.

Hi,
I've previously read an interesting and inspiring story about David Robinson, son of baseball legend Jackie Robinson (The first black man in baseball's major league).
David returned back to Tanzania and started Sweet Unity Farms. His goal was to ensure that the farmers are able to sell coffee directly to consumers.
I have not ordered coffee from here but I bet its very good. Please check them out at --

I will post the story below in a separate section.

Serengeti, Delighted to order from such an enterprising operation. The link to the story didn't work, but there was a bit of a blurb on the website. To make it easy, was able to use paypal. Appreciated the response!!! Deb

Serengeti, Link was working right after I posted, thanks! What a story of determination to make a better, more meaningful life and help other farmers as well. Sounds like a business worth supporting. Deb

One of the camp owners in Tanzania was a Fair Trade inspector and has me thinking about my purchasing power.

Here in San Diego area I have found Tanzania Peaberry Fair Trade grown coffee at Trader Joe's. I haven't tried it (yet) - I know you have lots of links for direct purchase - but thought one more wouldn't hurt....www.traderjoes.com. They also sell bush tea if anyone has developed a taste for it - and everytime I go in I ask for Amarula and I've heard its on the list to order.
