Tanzania Serengeti Travel Agent

Can anyone suggest a travel agent who is knowledgeable about booking a safari for my family for the Serengeti in Tanzania? Thank you!

See LyndaS New East African Trip Index. Lots of Trip Reports detailing the various tour operators visitors used.

Stop into bookstore for copy of Fodor's Complete Safari Planning Guide for useful info and name of those who can assist.

Or do a "search" on this board for names of those used by many here.

You don't want a Travel Agent, who will only turn over the request to a specialist tour operator. You have to locate, either locally or in-country an outfitter who handles the East African countries as Kenya and Tanzania.

There are several mentioned on the forum that include Good Earth (also in Tampa), Roy's (they can offer a US contact), Sunny Safaris, Naipenda, Kiliwarriors (also in Virginia), Leopard Tours, Access to Tanzania, and Warrior Trails. If you check the trip reports, you'll find some more mentioned. The Tanzania Assoc of Tour Operators lists a whole lot.

Worked with Susan Wood, A-Way-To Africa Safaris, (603) 679-9534, www.awaytoafricasafaris.com, Epping, NH 03042, last fall for a trip in January 2010. She set up a six day/five night safari with Roy Safaris in Arusha. We spent a night at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, two nights at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge and two nights at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. We e-mailed back and forth as she made suggestions and helped us find a trip that met our needs. Our guide, Elirehema Urio, was outstanding both in his command of the language and his knowledge of the animals and the area. We highly recommend both Susan and Roy Safaris.
