We're back from our Tanzanian safari, and from gorilla trekking in Rwanda!
I've posted our trip reports online, and also the cost comparison spreadsheet for the safari portion of the trip (lots of friends/families have asked about costs, so I thought this might be useful for the community as well).
The site is at www.porcupinelane.com
Hope it helps!!

Trip Report - Honeymoon Safari in Tanzania - End of July/August 2012

Thanks Porcupine. I just breezed through your very helpful trip report. Am I to understand the entire Tanzania trip was around $2200? I am assuming Rwanda trek was additional since the permits are $1000/pp.
Thanks for posting such a detailed and informative trip report.
PD
Lot of good info and fun to read, thanks.
regards - tom
lots of good tips, very interesting with the spreadsheet. I'm bookmarking this, thanks!
I liked your suggestions to pack lunches and start early. Appears you're a cheetah fan too! Thanks.
Great report and info.! This is an excellent tool that will help the rest of us travelers set up a safari to get the best tour operator at a great price. I appreciate your attention to detail and your comments. This is very helpful in trip planning. Thanks again!
I am off to Rwands for the two days of trekking in mid-June so was happy to get your suggestions. I will look for those heavier weight pants you mention. Someone told me to get "Dickies" but I have had trouble finding women's. Loved the idea of the chocolate!!
Sorry for the delay - I got distracted.
Yes, the Tanzania portion ended up being ~$2300. In Rwanda, we paid an additional $1000 for the gorilla trek permits, and $975 for other expenses.
I updated the total costs detail, including flights, on www.porcupinelane.com - in the "Tour Operators" section, as "Final Costs". (I would post the more specific URL, but this is my first site and I keep changing things around, which means the detailed URL changes too! =P)
I hope that helps! Have a great trip, and feel free to let me know if you have any more questions! I'll do my best to respond in a more timely manner.
Wow, great TR and loads of info and tips, thanks a ton - I especially loved the Rwanda part, we hope to go there sometime in 2014...
