Looking to hear comments from anyone who may have stayed at one or both of these camps in Botswana. Any info re: wildlife, accommodations, food etc. would be helpful. Thanks.

Will be at Kings Pool in September. Our agent told us that it has been closed & will reopen on May 1 as a six paw camp. Each room will have their own pool, sala, large bedroom, sitting area, in-suite bath plus outdoor shower.Kings Pool seems to be one of Fodorites favorite camps for wildlife. Sorry can't give you any more info. I'm sure some of the regulars will be on soon.We're working with Bert at Fish Eagles Safaris. He is great with knowing the camps & helping you pick the ones that fit you. Have fun planning.

Where can I find out how many "paws" that a game camp earns??? Is six paws the maximum??? Thanks.

Rocco-<BR>Its a term that Wilderness Safaris uses to describe their camps. Six is the top. I've not seen it used outside of this group. Go to www.Wilderness-Safaris.com to see it. Liz

Hi. We stayed at King's Pool on our trip last September. We had a fabulous time and really enjoyed this camp.<BR>Accomodations - if they're updating these per Jann's post, then may be different for you... The tents were very nice, not the same scale as Mombo &amp; Jao, but very nice. You walked in and there was a very small screened in porch with a desk. Off to the right was a separate door to the bathroom/shower. The other door in the porch went into the main tent - small, but comfortable with beds, desk, nightstands, etc. Then there was another door that led from the tent out onto your deck(overlooking the water) which also had an outdoor shower.<BR>Food was very good - excellent variety of items for brunch (hot foods, eggs, lots of salads) and dinner was very good as well.<BR>Wildlife was great. We were able to see a lot of wildlife here -- lions, lion cubs (and a kill of a buffalo), a pack of wild dogs, lots and lots of elephants(one afternoon we couldn't leave our tent b/c the elephant was right outside the front door nibbling from the tree above the tent), lots of buffalo, giraffes, etc.<BR><BR>Only &quot;complaint&quot; - not a complaint on the camp, but just the area of Botswana, was the Tetse flies. In other areas of Botswana they spray, but not here. It varied day to day and the locations we were at on the game drive, but at times the flies were really bad. Their bites hurt!!! They also don't seem to really care about DEET spray either. Long sleeves/pants helped, but at times the darn things would even bite through clothing. Annoying, but not bad enough to prevent me from going back!<BR><BR>Hope that helps. Kathi<BR>I too was bitten by the Tsetse flies - Pete didnt believe I could actually feel the little buggers biting but I really could!<BR>I was quite alarmed at first until someone explained that the Tsetse flies in that region no longer carry Tsetse (Sleeping) Sickness because the human population that they infected some decades back died there are no longer any infected people or animals from which the flies can pick it up again!!!
