South Africa with a difference - some questions

We are spending just under 6 weeks in South Africa from late March to early May. We have travelled there several time before (in fact I grew up there), so are doing something a little different this trip. For the first 2 weeks we will travel with our young adult daughters, and then when they return to Australia we will continue on alone. Mostly we have booked, but our last 6 days are still being decided on, and any comments are welcome.
Johannesburg – - 1 night (after the flight from Australia). We will pick up a car at JHB airport.
Drakensburg – DIDIMA - 1 night
Drakensburg – Champagne Castle Chalets - 3 nights
Hluhluwe Game Reserve, Hilltop Camp – 3 nights (have never done the Natal Game Parks before)
Kuleni Game Park – Bushwillow – 4 nights (plan to get out to St Lucia area from here)
Durban – Manaar House – 2 nights.
Return hire car. Daughters fly back to Australia and DH and I fly to Cape Town where we pick up a 4WD hire car.
Stellenbosch – Soverby Guesthouse – 5 nights
Then we head up the west coast into southern Namibia before turning back into South Africa.
Paternoster – Stranloper Sea Villas – 3 nights
Clanwilliam – Klein Boschkloof – 2 nights
Noordoewer (Namibia) – Noordoewer Guest House– 1 night
Fish River Canyon – Canyon Village – 2 nights
Mata Mata – Torgo Safari Lodge – 1 night
Kgalagadi Tranfrontier NP – Nossob Camp – 3 nights
Askham – Kgalagadi Lodge – 1 night
Augrabies Falls NP – SanParks – 1 night
Mokala NP – Mosu Lodge – 2 nights
From here we plan to visit my 104 year old grandmother who lives in a tiny place called Dewetsdorp. It would appear there is not much in the way of accommodation there, so we are thinking of staying in Bloemfontein for 1 night. Any suggestions here would be welcome.
Then perhaps 1 night at Golden Gate Highlands NP. Being 3rd May at this time, we were wondering if the autumn colours will be out. Really not sure what the roads will be like in this area as it is fairly remote. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on this?
Frome here we will return to Johannesburg for a further 3 nights. This will be a chance to catch up with my brother who lives out on the West Rand. Not sure yet where we will stay but will see if we can get self-catering accommodation perhaps out near Sandton. Any suggestions?
