Hi!
My husband and I are going to SA for 21 days in December/January. We will flight to Johannesburg.
We are doing Kruger park and Cape Town for sure, but we want to add one more country in our itinerary, any suggestions are welcome!!!
I was thinking about doing 3 days in Sabi Sans, then flying to Namibia and rent a car to selfdrive. Stay in Namibia for 7 days and then go to CT. 10 days in CT/ garden route, and then fly to Jbr to catch the flight back home.
Which would be a good place to spend new year's eve? We are in our 30's and really like off the circuit kind of trips.

Sounds great. I would suggest one or two more days in Sabi Sands (maybe split it between 2 lodges).
Sabi and Namibia are both very hot in Dec/Jan but still great to visit.
Cape Town will probably be the best bet for New Years Eve - Depending on what you are looking for.

I live in Cape Town and Kirstenbosch Gardens always have a concert on their lawns on New Years Eve - it is a spectacular way to spend New Year on the back slopes of Table Mountain with the mountain silhouetted against the sky. You take along a picnic and enjoy the music while sipping on champagne (or whatever you may have taken along to drink) It really is a great way to spend New Years.
They haven't announced yet who will be performing this year but they're always popular south African artists (so you'll get to hear some local musicians as well)

I would recommend Cape Town as a great place to celebrate New Year (bit biased unfortunately).
Unfortunately I cant give you information of a third country as I love SA to much to leave and explore the surrounding countries.
The Garden Route is a fantastic place but could be a bit crowded during the Christmas/New Year time unless you dont mind crowds. If you do, you can alsways find a secluded place to stay - there are plenty of options out there. One year a group of friends and I stayed in a house in the forest 12 minutes drive outside Knysna. I never left the property for the whole time as the birdlife and solitude was seperb. There were Knysna Loerie (type of bird) on our back porch at least 5 times a day.

You need to book the whole trip well in advance since that is peek holiday time in South Africa. Places will be full.
Another confirmation that the Cape Town area will be very busy. This is school and Christmas holidays, and South Africans come to the beach. So allow lots of time for getting around.
