shot ot capsules for yellow fevor?

We will be going to Tanzania/Kenya in July and know we need Yellow Fevor prevention.
I have always thougfht it was an innoculation. A pharmacist I spoke to today stated one takes 4-5 capsules with a prescription for YF.

Are they both OK or which is preferred method?

I've never heard of an oral vaccine for YF. I think your pharmacist got it confused with Thyphoid.

YF is and has always been an inoc.
For Typhoid there are tabs.
As sdb2, pharmacist is confused.

Another of the many reasons for why pharmacists should not be considered health care providers but rather pill counters. Sort of analogous to accountants and bookkeepers.

NFZ - Of course, depends on who the pharmacist is. Mine would never have said that.

Still, best to get the info from your physician (who is familiar with foreign travel requirements) or a tropical diseases specialist as you need a script to get any of these.

Thank you all! You are, of course, correct! I kept telling her Yellow Fevor and she was quite sure about saying I needed capsules of VIVOTIF which are for Typhoid. She never mentioned the word Typhoid! What a fool!

Thanks again !
