Serengeti/Tanzania options help req.
My wife and I have booked 9 nights at Rekero camp in the Mara/Kenya next October and are looking to add another 8-10 nights in the Serengeti/Tanzania side for late Sept.
Have considered Lemala- Mara or Olivers- Sayari/Olakira camps (using search option now) and would also consider a mobile camp in the area if suitable. I was last there back in '93 on an overland 6mth trip, so memories from a different perspective.
Does anyone here have any knowledge or advice in regards to these camps of others that would be suitable.
Our preference is for small camps/lodges with a priv vehicle option, for possible migration and river crossing opportunities (weather permitting, of course) and offroad & night drive being offered. Observing Cheetah is another of our goals also. Have just come back from 23 nights in Botswana (trip report to follow soon after editing over 110 Gig of images!) and lucked out on Cheetah with only a fleeting glimpse of the backs of a mother and 6 cubs!
Any advice, tips and help gladly appreciated.
Cheers
Marc

Have you considered Nomad? In addition to their camps they do seasonals/semi-mobiles in the Serengeti. My information is from 2006 so perhaps totally irrelevant, but we really, really enjoyed our time with them and each party has private vehicle. Not ultra-fancy but very special. High-quality guides. I believe "Charlie"is their lower-cost Serengti option now.

I too was thinking Nomad's for private vehicle. Camp has only 4/tents. Their "Charlie" mobile camps, though less expensive, are also more basic... but inquire; this might meet your needs.
Otherwise, Sayari or Lemala are good camps in the Northern Serengeti for October. And Olakira will now be in the North (previously in Central during this time). Klein's, also here, might be too costly.

First of all: CONGRATS to your decision to stay for 9 consecutive nights in one camp in the Mara! Excellent choice!
I am supporting the NOMAD idea. Maybe that would make a great combo: Sayari at the end for a bit more lux and Nomad for their 4 night Charlie to begin with.
Or something really different: NOMAD/MAHALE combined with Charlie or Sayari....the choice is yours
Sounds it's going to be a stunning safari!
I really like your staying in one camp for more than a couple of nights contrary to many "camp hopping" folks who waste so much time in transfers!
Staying for longer in one camp offers so many great opportunities to come to KNOW the animals, particularly in the Mara.
Happy planning/landings!

The time frame of the following link is not the same as yours, but the comments may still be helpful.

We're traveling in January with Nomad for 10 days - first the Crater area and then 5 nights in the Serengeti area (Safari Camp for 3 nights and Nduara Loliondo for 2 nights). As others have said I read many favourable comments about the quality of NT's guides which was a major part of our decision.
I looked into the Charlie Mobile option (which just started in July) but it doesn't include the private guide/car option (can be added I suppose) and the tents are quite a bit smaller.
I will be posting comments come January although that might be too late for you.

Thanks atravelynn & Eliz for your kind help.
And spass, my wife and I have always preferred to stay a minimum of 5 days at any camp, we hate camp hopping for 2 nights here, 2 nights there etc, just not worth it IMO. We like to get a feel of the place, and think that it presents more opportunities for wildlife interaction.
So, it looks like we'll be looking at a Nomad priv mob of at least 8-10 nights.
