Only use postal service mail if you want the goods to be stolen. UPS, FedEx, DHL ... any reliable, traceable carrier. And be sure to unsure it.

As NFZ, use UPS, FedEx or DHL (are they still in business? ).
Be aware that "overnight" or "next day" service can actually take many more, which the agent at any of these can advise accordingly. So don't pay for more than how long it'll actually take to be delivered "over there." At least with these the package can be tracked.

Beware of very large customs duties which may be imposed on the package. My brother recently sent clothes and other personal items to his daughter in Kenya using DHL and had lots of problems with customs. It was amazing that DHL didn't warn him.

Quotes from the 3 private carriers range from $114 to $154...more than the watch itself.

Canada Post has an air option for $10 which includes insurance but no tracking - looks like it is the best option but I will investigate it further. Thanks

Can you get somebody to bring it? It's easy to mail it to the next US/Canada fodorite going close to the destination.

I usually contact the safari operator and ask when their next US client is due. Most safari guest will not mind carrying a small gift with them, if is not heavy, bulky or expensive. May not work in all situations, but has never failed for me.

Elizabeth, I sent a parcel by Canada Post to Tz and it took 3 months to get there! I'd be concerned that a small parcel such as the watches would never get there. I agree with others who suggest that a fellow fodorite could take the gifts to your guides. Mailing to a local fodorite would be cheaper and easier.

Always fussy - not to shop but get it over without putting too much burden onto them for customs.
I would try to find someone who takes it for u. The recipient will have a lot of fuss getting it from customs.
We never ship but send with travellers.
As this is a travel forum it shouldn't be too difficult to find a nice buddy who takes it.
