Safri Clothes for Big Men
Our trip is about finalized and we are going in June. My husband is a "big" man. 6'4" and large. Wears a 3x shirt. Where do I find long underwear and warm fleece stuff for him? I know it is early to think about this but it may take a long time to find. Also who has safari type pants for him? Zip of bottoms would be great.

Hi there!
Sounds like my husband has a very similar build to yours.
We found that Cabelas (www.cabelas.com) has a nice selection of 'safari' type gear for big/tall men.
We found that stores like REI run small, and nothing quite fit right.
good luck!

Here is a book authored by the owners of Cabelas that demonstrates their love of wildlife, especially elephants:

There is no need for "safari clothes." Go to a Marshalls department store or just wherever he usually shops and buy some comfortable clothes in the appropriate colors. I think people who show up on safari in their safari suits, unless they are like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, look less than flattering!

Thanks for the websites. I looked at them and I think we can find what we want. We will get regular clothes but it was the fleece that was most important. Also I would love to find the zip of pants but no idea where to get those. I will keep searching. It will give me something to do while waiting for this trip.

Rocco,
I just thought that I would share my 2 cents. Too bad my comment was undermined, and I was made out to look like a hunting advocate. I am most definitely not.
spiegelcjs,
Here is a link to the page with the zip pants that Cabela's has right now.

I can completely relate to the challenge of finding clothing for big/tall. My husband has a 38-40" inseam. Finding a pair of pants that don't look like high-waters can be quite the challenge.
One other thing I like about Cabela's is that their tops come in extra long sizes to accomodate the larger arm span and longer torso of tall men.
Good luck!

ruby sage,
I had no idea whether or not you knew of Cabelas hunting affiliation so it could not have been my intent to paint you as a hunting proponent.
However, for anyone that does buy Cabelas products, know that the profits you are providing for Cabelas are likely going towards more lion & elephant hunts for the owners.

I agree 100% with what Rocco said. Just take regular clothes.
All the guide books warn you NOT to take camo. clothing, and yet while we were in Amboseli a large California family showed up all wearing it. They looked out of place, and were lucky that KWS or the Army didn't stop them.

I wouldn't worry about the zip off pants as June isn't all that hot, nor is it cold to need long underwear or even fleece. The hot months are Jan - Mar.
Pants he would ordinarily buy in his large sizes - khaki, tan, green, brown - will be just fine. Likewise, for shirts with long arms and length, he can find where he normally shops for his clothing... the sporting goods/clothing sections. You're coming into Fall/Winter, so these items should be in the shops.
