I have been invited to a conference in Abuja, Nigeria next spring. Can anyone comment on safety in this area? I have read the U.S. State Department warnings on travel to Nigeria, but was hoping to get advice from someone with first-hand knowledge.

I am an European living in Maytama area in Abuja. In my experience it is quite safe. You have, however, be careful of where you choose to live and walk around. I wouldn't recommend wandering the streets at night.
I Think Abuja is very peaceful for the tourist. You do not need to worry about the security issues form the all around the world . It is very beautiful travel destination for the tourist from all over the world. If you are planning to visit Abuja and looking for the cheap flights to Abuja
then you need to check for the appropriate site on the web. hope you will enjoy the tour
