SA safari compared to Zambia
Going to SA next week and wondering how the safari compares so Lower zambezi and South Luangwa. We were in Zambia last year october and loved it (Sausage tree, Chiawa, Vicfalls, Puku and Luangwa river lodge). Next week starting at Izulu hotel (dolphin coast), then Thanda reserve, then Blue mountain lodge, followed by Simbambili and Londolozi. I wonder if Simbambili and Londolozi have views to a river, thats what i loved about Zambia.
Also accomodation wise, how could it be compared. Anyway, i m just getting excited over my next trip to Africa and since my parents and brother will join us i hope its going to be as beautiful as our holidays in Zambia. Thanks

Hi Alejandra,
Never been to Zambia so cannot compare but I have been to Londolozi, though not Simbambili, though I do keep tabs on what they are viewing. I have been to three camps at Londolozi, Bateleur, which I didn't like at all due to a horribly tiny room with absolutely no outlook at an horrific cost - certainly not the only reason I didn't not enjoy my time there. Then I gave it another shot this past July, and I stayed at both Pioneer and Founders, trying a suite and a chalet, and while I preferred the Founders chalet, I liked both, though you would definitely be stretching it to say I had any view, Founders did have a distant Sand River view at best.
Kind regards,
Kaye

Hi Kaye: we'll stay at Tree camp, so most likely trees is what the view will be ..we'll be there over new years, wonder how safari camps celebrate new years...
Thanks Dennis.
Hari i know it will be completely different, although i hoped for a river in front of the lodge. It makes the stay in between gamedrives more diverse, although i loved the open plaines in front of Puku a lot too.
I m curious about Thanda, since nobody has posted on it here before. www.thanda.co.za it looks beautiful.
Thanks for your posts, regards

Hi Alejandra,
Tree is the only one I have not been to, so I am sure it will be great. I was at Londolozi Bateleur for Xmas 2005. All the camps came to Bateleur for Christmas, so it was a large gathering. The food at Londolozi has always been amazing with the chefs going to no end of trouble to please you! So I am sure you will have a great celebration for New Year's Eve. I shall be at MalaMala for New Year's Eve and they always have done a sort of show by the rangers usually making a bit of fun about the nationalities of the current guests. They are so funny, it really is great entertainment.
Have a great gameviewing experience in South Africa, and we shall even share a few of the animals as MalaMala and Londolozi share a boundary.
Kind regards,
Kaye
