Room/tent recommendations In Tanzania

Understanding special requests for specific rooms or tents may only occur upon availability, but there's no harm in asking!

Can anyone recommend the better rooms/tents for that spectacular view in the following:

Lake Manyara Serena
Ngorongoro Sopa
Kirawira

Any to stay away from???

In fact, just got back from L. M. Serena and N. Sopa. Not sure any rooms have a spectacular view. I think all rooms have nice views into the "scenery". (But can't say I was in all of the rooms). Both lodges rather large/spread out so if you are a "slow" walker you may want to request a room close to the reception/dining room.

Kirawira was the most amazing place. Unfortunately, we did not spend much time in the tent, which was lovely. We got up very early to take a ballon ride. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and they had a charming gift shop.
We also stayed at the Nogorongora Sopa. There were Cape Buffalo grazing outside our window. It was cool(temperature wise) there. We so the sun set over the cater while we had cocktails on the patio.
We did not go the Lake Manyara.

I would love to go back to Kirawira....

As Tom has said, the Sopa at the Crater is pretty large, so you may prefer to specify a room near or farther from the central dining/ public areas, as you like.

Our room didn't have a great view, as was blocked by trees. You might ask for a room with a clearer view, though I couldn't tell you which to ask for.

Thanks for the tip for the Sopa & Serena. Don't need to be too close to the public areas but at the same time don't really want to be in the last room a mile down!

Can't imagine being on the crater's rim and not have a great view so come on someone out there must have stayed in the room that had the absolute best view.

"Can't imagine being on the crater's rim and not have a great view so come on ..."

Well, I didn't visit all of the rooms (96). (Too many "Do Not Disturb" signs on room doors ). Here is snap I took looking into Crater from the main lobby/swimming pool area -

Is this a great view? Suppose so, you can see that the Sopa is set back a bit kind of between two hills. But this snap was from the main common area, my room number 60 view was not nearly as good as this.

Tom, I agree as to a great photo! Was it from the Sopa patio area?

Thanks, I wouldn't call it a great photo, just a record snap.
As you go through the Sopa lobby outside there is the swimming pool. Then as I recall a few meters of grass and a little stone wall and then ground starts dropping off downward. Photo was taken at that little wall. But you can not see the Crater end to end because of the hills. The Crater a magical place, even better than on TV

That's a superb view! Ours was FAR FAR more obstructed. FAR MORE. I have no idea whatsoever which room we were assigned.

Yeah, a good view - but NOT from a room, from a common area near pool. My room 60 had just a hint of a view into the Crater.

Tom, a fantastic photo!

Hmmm...so maybe I should bunk on a lounge chair by the pool?

Re: Ngorongoro Sopa... We were in ground-floor rooms in the first building to the left of the main lodge and dining area as you face the Crater. We had a bit of a view. Further down, I don't think the ground floor rooms would have any view. The second floor rooms have better views of the Crater, but I doubt if you spend much time in your room gazing at the view. If you do have some daylight hours, head over to the main lounge for a sundowner and enjoy the view from there.

Tom, duh!
Views from public areas were lovely!
Yes that was our feeling, we didn't spend much time (in daylight hours) in our room at all, so we didn't mind not having better view. If we'd had it, we'd have enjoyed it for those minutes we could, but it wasn't an issue for us not to have it, given time in room.
