My husband and I will be in Dubai in mid May and would like to eat at Burj Al Arab if we can afford. I have done some reading and still don't know what to expect.
Can we have dinner and a bottle of wine around $500 including gratuity and taxes?
Thank you.

I visited Dubai in November 2006 and had dinner at the Burj's seafood restaurant (I think its called Al Mahara). It was pricey -- around US$150 to $200 pers person (I don't recall the exact amount) or so before wine, and the wine list was very expensive, favoring first growths and big name burgundies -- but a very memorable experience. The room is stunning, with tables surrounding an enormous aquarium (if you are interested, the waiter will offer a fish guide to help identify the sealife). With your reservation, you can arrive early for drinks at the sky bar. So, if you choose wine carefully, you can get out for US$500.
