Proposed Zambia Itinerary Update
My itinerary as changed significantly in the last six months. As always, I'm open to any and all feedback.
Lilayi Lodge, Lusaka - 2 nights
Liuwa Plain, Robin Pope - 5 nights
Lilayi Lodge, Lusaka - 1 night
Lower Zambezi - 4 nights
South Luangwa - 6 nights (3 different camps)
Mfuwe Lodge - 1 night
North Luangwa - 6 nights (2 different camps)
Kafue - 3 nights
Southern Sun Ridgeway - 2 nights
Lilayi Lodge, Lusaka - 2 nights
Liuwa Plain, Robin Pope - 5 nights

Where are you planning to stay in Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa? If it were me, I would spend three nights each at two camps in South Luangwa, rather than moving twice.
One of our most memorable nights in Africa was spent in the elephant hide (up in a tree) at Kaingo Camp in South Luangwa - I would highly recommend it. Scroll down towards the bottom of page 1 of my trip report for a photo and more info:

In the Lower Zambezi, I'm staying at Potato Bush Camp. It was 4 nights for the price of 3. In South Luangwa, I'm staying at Bilimungwe, Kapamba, & Chindeni Bush Camps.

I had a look back at your first proposed itinerary, and I would much prefer your original choices of camps (Tafika and Tena Tena) in South Luangwa. Someone commented that Tafika was one of her favourite camps in Africa. Mine too.
A combination of Tafika and Kaingo would be great.
Where are you staying in North Luangwa? Is there another camp up there besides Mwaleshi, or are you doing the Zambian Dawn mobile camps?
I assume you have a booking for the RPS Liuwa trip- I thought they were all sold out or nearly sold out.
There seems to be a lot of time in Lusaka. Two nights at the beginning and at the end seems like overkill unless you are visiting people?

Yes, I do have a booking for Liuwa Plain with Robin Pope. I got it shortly after he announced he would be conducting the tour. The time in Lusaka is due in part to late afternoon arrivals & awards ticket travel dates. While in Lusaka, I how to do the Lusaka Experience tour and one other. In NLNP, I'm going with the Zambian Dawns Mobile Safari. As for SLNP, it's to late to make changes without incurring some penalty.

I am no expert here, but spent 8 nights at bushcamps in October 2013, yes, it was blistering hot! 1 night coming and going at Mfuwe, 4 at Billi, 2 Chindeni. We changed number of nights at Billi while we were there from 2 to 4, leaving less at Chindeni. IMO, Billi is a better choice. Tents are much more private, quieter, and camp vibe more upbeat. Of course, the resident host is part of this. Also, and a big reason to stay at Billi, you might have the opportunity to have Manda as your guide. He is superb guide, as well as an amazing person to be with. He is the resident guide at this camp. I can't say enough about the management of the Bushcamps for making our trip truly memorable .
This was not our first trip to Africa. And won't be our last to Zambia.

Exciting stuff you have there. In S. Luangwa are you walking from camp to camp? If so 3 camps in 6 days makes sense. If not, I'd reduce it to 2 camps.
I never saw your first itinerary, but I concur with stokeygirl's comments below. I actually liked Tafika better than Tena Tena, though. There is a good hide at Kaingo, but the big draw of that hide--the carmine bee eaters--will probably not be around in May, June.
