Priceline in SA?

We have Priceline and Hotwire to find good deals on hotels in North America. Is there anything like that for Capetown?

Since priceline is not limited to North America I tried to do a search for you in Capetown and it failed. I know this won't help you for this trip, but be advised priceline can be used not only in N America but also in Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.

Good luck finding what you need.

Thanks. It's interesting that when you use Priceline in Europe, it does not seem to be a discount operator. I was hoping to find a site where you could find discounted rates for hotels in SA. I'll come back and post it if I do find anything like it.

It's not a bidding site, but you can often find discounts, especially on short notice, at www.mtbeds.co.za. Some of the discounts are only for locals though so you have to read the terms.

Also, the bidding site luxurylink.com often has multi-night packages for high-end hotels in Cape Town and other places in South Africa. We got a 4-night package at the Twelve Apostles through Luxury Link and loved it. That was years ago though.

mamatross, it's not a exactly a discount site, the good deals are found when making a bid. For example, I got a room at the 4* Thistle Marble Arch in London for $72/night including taxes. The bad thing about bidding is you don't know which hotel you are getting until it's booked and paid for, and it's non-refundable and non-changealbe. So far <knock wood> it's always been good for me.
