We haven't been on that specific tour, but people that we have traveled with on other OAT tours have said that it was wonderful - in fact the best OAT tour that they have taken. Since all of our OAT tours have been fantastic, that's a pretty good recommendation!
There are always solo travelers on OAT tours, so that should not be a problem

Which OAT Egypt trip are you considering? We went on their Egypt, Jordan, Red Sea trip last March, and there were some disappointing elements. On the OAT website, you can read travelers' reviews of each of their trips. You may find them useful.
OAT and Grand Circle both have excellent reputations for making single travelers most welcome.

I'm leaving in 2 days (!!) for OAT Egypt and the Eternal Nile trip as well as the Petra extension. I have friends who have done this trip and loved it. I booked it because of the small group size and the amount of time in each place seemed generous compared to other trips I looked at. And because there was no single supplement! I'm used to traveling independently, so this will be a new to me.
At the moment I just found out that the Abu Simbel excursion is no longer by air, but by the convoy of coaches that leaves very early in the AM and takes HOURS and am very disappointed. All the literature at the time I booked said it was by air, but they changed it August 1 according to the OAT rep when I called a couple of days ago. However, that is only one thing and maybe it's possible to sleep on the coach! If I'd known at the time I booked, I would have looked for an independent tour there by air before booking OAT's excursion. I certainly would rather not spend most of the day on a coach
My trip starts with Jordan extension, then the main trip in Egypt. I'm leaving LAX at 6:10 am and arriving JFK at 3:00 pm. Then Egyptair at 6:30 pm, arriving at 11:20 am with a 7 hour layover in Cairo before the 6:30 pm flight to Amman. Yikes!!! If only there was a place to nap! What I would have done differently is to fly into JFK the day before and spend the night with my friends in Queens or an airport hotel.
