place to sleep near airport for a 6 hour layover .. switching airports
Hello,
We arrive at 4 am into JKIA and want to check into a hotel for the few hours we have before boarding our flight at the Wilson airport for our Safari. We will have been traveling for 30 hours so I don't want to wait around for the flight. I am hoping to be able to shower and maybe even sleep for a few hours. So, we are looking for a hotel we can book the night before so we can have an early morning check in close to both airports. We would rather not spend more than $150. Has anyone ever stayed at the Summerdale Inn. Or does anyone have another hotel idea. Thank so much for your help and suggestions.
I am also considering Aero Club of East Africa.

Most of the hotels near JKIA would be over your budget (Ole Sereni, Panari, Boma.) The Aero Club sounds like an interesting idea, since it's right at Wilson. The reviews are mixed, as with most places in Nairobi. You'd want to make sure that someone would be onsite at the time you're arriving to check you in. My usual "go to" hotel down in Nairobi is the Fairview Hotel, but I think they might also be out of your price range. They do have a less expensive property around the corner, Country Lodge. Their Economy Plus rooms might fit your budget. The hotel is about 10 minutes from Wilson, as I recall.

Don't know if you've gone on your trip, yet, or made a reservation somewhere, but thought I'd let you know of our experience at the Aero Club last September. It was good choice. The room was a bit run down, but clean, and we slept well. They were very accommodating and promptly responded to my email concerns and questions. We were heading out for a 3 a.m. flight at JKIA and their driver was waiting for us as we exited our room.

At the hour you arrive there won't be any traffic getting from JKIA to Wilson for the few hours spent at Aero Club. You can also grab something to eat (pay directly) as their rate does not include breakfast as most all other hotels do. Or wait till you get into Wilson, whether for an Air Kenya or Safarilink flight - both have food available and coffee (payable direct).
