I also posted this link on another thread, but having just read it in full,I think it is worthy of being separated. It comes from a highly respected photographer Joe McDonald and is well worth a read.

Our best trip ever - in Morocco

Very interesting link, thanks. I think he makes excellent points and his photographs are stunning.
I'm surprised that he prefers the pop-top vehicles to open ones. Whilst I realise that the open ones don't offer easy support for beanbags I find shooting out of side windows restrictive and shooting down from the pop top is not my favourite perspective. At least in an open vehicle it's easier to get low down and the view is more open all around. Then again, I don't have the truly huge lenses some photographers use, which I guess would be harder to manage in the open vehicles.
Interesting.
That last lioness in dawn photo is just spectacular.
Ken,
Intersting article. He has great photos and seems like a fantastic photographer - but, has he not asked/requested his guide to change the position of the vehicle vs needing to adjust his tripod every minute?
Good article on safaris. It's not clear to me whether he has a private vehicle or not. I think he generally does. That makes a world of difference for photography.
