If Patty doesn't know much about AA ff tickets, I know even less about any ff tickets.
However, AAFF certainly does know AA(flies them/partners just about everywhere regularly); see how his advice works for you.
I, too, was wondering why you were flying to Disney when JFK, ORD, DFW or SFO would be best hubs for you. Glad you corrected it was ORD.

The question more concerns 2 airlines on which we have never flown - Japan Air and Cathay. I could use either, and wonder if one is better than the other in there first and/or business classes.
Patty - I couldn't seem to get anywhere with Namibia, don't really know why, and then things just started falling in place with Thailand, so... it's Thailand next year. Hoping for a tiger site!

Cyn,
Have you ever been to Thailand? I was there last summer and I loved it! Totally different experience from Africa.
I flew the nonstop flight from JFK to Bangkok on Thai airways though, so I can't help you with the airline suggestions.

Southeast Asia is not a typical destination for wildlife excursions, and I would bet its virtully impossible to see tigers or other large animals in the Thai reserves. I have been several times to Thailand, and its a great destination, but I think you'll be disappointed if your primary goal is to see wildlife.
I have gone on two wildlife trips in Southeast Asia. The first, to Komodo Island, was excellent and among my favorite trips, and the second, to see orangutans in Malaysian Borneo was not as interesting. Both would be time-consuming add-ons from Bangkok, especially Komodo, for which you'd need at least four days from Bangkok. But, its a great trip (if you can sleep in rough accomodations and tolerate very small boats, you can do it independently, like I did, instead of the fancier live-aboard cruise ships).

No, not my primary reason at all- we've been to China, and need to explore other Asian countries - Thailand is the first that popped up, somehow. It would just be such a bonus if we got lucky and a tiger happened by... I can dream! Thanks for the input!
What did you like most about Thailand?

Cyn,
I didn't see any "real" wildlife in Thailand.
However, there are tons of elephants around, so I'm sure you will see some. I even got to feed and pet a few babies which I loved.
I saw tigers at the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi. I didn't really love the experience here, but you do get close to the tigers. They had a leopard and several baby tigers as well when I was there.
I also saw tons of monkeys in Thailand. Most were at the monkey temple in Lopburi, but saw some other places as well. If you do go to Lopburi, be careful as the monkeys here are very cheeky. I saw them steal a baby's bottle right from her hands and run way high up into the trees with it! I held a baby monkey at another place that was an orphan. It was being raised by a monk and it was very sweet.
What's your itinerary for Thailand. I have tons of pictures and I can share the link with you if you are interested.

I would love to see the pictures! If you don't mind, would you please post your link over on the thread I have going on the asia forum?
http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...7&tid=34863873
That way, I can try and keep my research in one place. The beginnings of my itinerary is there too - it is very much a work-in-progress, so please feel free to offer candid opinions and thoughts!
And if anyone else has any Thailand trip reports or info for me, I would love to hear from you too!
Thanks!

For what its worth, I used to fly on OneWorld RTW tickets all the time for several years. The price out of SA used to be around $1000+ cheaper then originating in USA when purchased with Quantas or BA. Flew one way once to Jo'burg to start the whole thing over 10 years ago.
Quickly found out that the other airlines were better then AA in so many ways.I would fly in a heartbeat with Cathy over AA anytime. Best part is that amount of miles collected with the planned zig zagging in the different continent zones. Easily decided on seeing places I would not have normally thought much about.
