Overnight Hotel in Dar

If you were flying in to Dar es Salaam one evening, then flying out to Arusha early the next morning, what hotel would you stay in?

We stayed at the Kempinski in late January and I highly recommend it--brand new hotel with a well trained staff, a sparkling pool and several good restaurants. If you go to the Kempinski website and search for their Dar es Salaam hotel, there are usually some pretty good rates available, ours was $125. The room rate also includes a "to die for" breakfast/brunch buffet, so I hope you don't have an early morning flight.

We stayed at the Golden Tulip and I would not recommend it. Have heard the Holiday Inn is very nice. We walked by it and it looked great.

I stayed at the Golden Tulip too... HORRIBLE - full details on my site if you're interested. http://www.bombasticlife.com/paf_tan...den_tulip.html

Stayed at Movenpick... it was ok for a night. I reviewed that one on there too.

We three stayed one night at the Holiday Inn in June of 2005 to begin our safari to parks in southern Tanzania. Rooms were clean and quiet and breakfast was great.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn and it ws fine but I would try the Kempinski next time depending on the price (thinking that they are both western hotels and the Kempinski might be nicer).
