Overnight bus between Cairo and Dahab
If we take an overnight air-conditioned bus from Cairo to Dahab, does the bus stop during the nine hours trip or is there a toilet on board? There are so many interesting things to do when one is looking for adventurous trips in Egypt, but the organisers and hosts do not seem to think about arranging toilet/shower facilities for tourists. What is your experience/opinion in this regard?

Elzeth -
Is this the public bus? or a tour company bus? although I haven't done the Cairo-Dahab route, I took the public bus from Cairo to Farafra Oasis a few years ago (took the overnight bus coming back). I'd imagine they are using the same sorts of buses...they were clean enough but honestly one of the most uncomfortable - on many levels - travel experiences in my life (and I am a very small female that doesn't require much space and am used to roughing it). We made one stop along the way for a bathroom stop. I could never have afforded to go camping in the western desert though using private transportation (my 8-ish hour bus ride was 8USD I believe), so in the end it was worth it - just don't expect space or comfort and you'll be fine! (also, there is no way in hell I would take a public bus for that long alone again as a female in Egypt, as that only added to the nightmare bus ride, but I'm assuming you aren't traveling alone.)

We took the public bus from Cairo to Dahab during the day and stopped for one bathroom break (and five times for passport checks). I believe there was a bathroom on the bus. Overall we were pleasantly surprised with how comfortable the bus was and how smooth the ride. Our biggest complaint was that they kept it so super air conditioned we were freezing!
