Aloha all!
I will be spending 4 nights at Offbeat Mara Camp late August 2010 and just wondering what to expect. Have seen comments on lots of other places, but not this one.
Anyone with personal experience? Would appreciate your thoughts....

Never heard of it, but "offbeat" sounds like my kind of place!
Thanks, Lillipets! Yes, I agree, but now starting to wonder if we made the right choice.
Either not many people have been there or the ones that have don't have anything to say about it. Only 2 reviews on TripAdviser--both good but not recent comments (2008, 2009).
Travel Resource has good things to say about it, but would like to hear from someone who has stayed there.
hi elizabeth,
will you at offbeat only for 4 days? ok email alltoafricasafari@gmail.com
hope to hear you soon
I am surprised that you have not received more responses but I guess the camp is still relatively new. I have done two prior safaris with Offbeat (one on horse and one at Sosian) and had a great time. I am going again in July. The people running the show are fun and adventurous. You will have great guides. In addition to the guides, I found the other guests to be interesting people who I was happy to get to know on safari. With respect the Mara camp, I have was on the riding safari in the Mara so I cannot speak to that camp specifically. My mother and sister stayed there and at Offbeat’s Meru camp in 2007. They both had a great time. I was actually a little surprised that a place could work so well for both of them. My mother tends towards expensive hotels and my sister is happiest sleeping in a snow cave. I think that you picked correctly and that is where I would stay if I did not prefer to be on a horse. I am happy to answer any questions that I can. August is such a great time to be in the Mara.
Also Equitours in the United States has a connection to Offbeat. I am sure they would answer any questions.
Thank you for your replies! I was beginning to wonder if ANYONE had stayed there (other than the 2 people who commented on TripAdvisor 1-2 years ago)!
Offbeat Mara Camp was recommended by the person who arranged my trip and someone I have a good feeling about in terms of quality recommendations---so I wasn't overly concerned. However, did get a little worried when I threw the question out there and got no responses. So---thank you, Djerba!
I drove past the Offbeat Mara Camp in January and it looked very nice. Certainly in a nice location and looked like a place I could have stayed at. I have spoken to a couple of people who have stayed with them and had only good things to say.
Thanks, twaffle---I'm feeling much better about this camp now.
Guess I will need to report back after I return...only 8+weeks to go!
