After two years of planning, it is almost here. And the brief moment of excitement I finally started to feel at the turn of the New Year, has given way to panic. We leave in just 4 days - FOUR!
Mom and I have been packed for weeks - but now I'm re-packing, tweaking, second guessing. I have been following my carefully crafted pre-departure check list, checking off completed items, and now it seems as though there is no time! And too much still to do!
Here's the itinerary, booked with Africa Serendipity (thanks Sandi!)
Jan 17 - o/n Intercontinental
Jan 18 - flight to Arusha, o/n Kirurumu/Manyara
Jan 19/20 - Crater Serena
Jan 21/23 - Olakira
Jan 24/26 - Ndutu Lodge
Jan 27 - flight to Wilson, onto Mara, o/n Olonana
Jan 28 - Olonana
Jan 29/30 - Saruni
Jan 31 - flight to Chyulu, o/n Campi ya Kanzi
Feb 1 - Campi ya Kanzi
Feb 2/4 - West Tsavo - Ndolwa House
Feb 5 - Nairobi, Giraffe Manor, afternoon tour with Kennedy
Feb 6 - day with Kennedy, evening flight, ending up with a 2 day layover in Paris.
I know it will go so quickly. And I also know my panic will subside the second we get on our first plane out of Tulsa.
I did break down and get an international cell phone. We have too much going on back here, and some things have come up that will require decisions made by us while we are gone (pets, business, etc).
I have already chatted with Divewop, who is on the same plane as us from AMS to NBO - and Andy Biggs will cross paths with us at the Crater. Anyone else traveling where we are?
(As an aside, this fall I took an photography class with Andy Biggs in Utah. Incredible. Great instructors, great class. Andy leads a wonderful class.)
Thank you to all Fodorites - everyone has been so helpful and full of great information. Huge thank you to all!

Have a wonderful time!
That is a great itinerary, have a wonderful trip.
We're leaving on the 26th and scheduled to stay at Lion Rock in Lumo Wildlife Sanctuary on Feb 2nd and 3rd which I believe isn't far from Ndolwa. In you're interested in meeting up email me at pchang1972 at yahoo dot com. We have our own vehicle, so we could drive over or something (I'll have to find out the exact location of Ndolwa). I wouldn't mind checking the place out anyway.
If we don't get a chance to meet up, have a wonderful trip!
Safari njema!
You'll have a great time.
