I am planning my 10-12 day honeymoon for October of 2013. My fiance and I have wanted to travel to Turkey & maybe Cyprus. Neither of us are fans of group tours. In looking into where to go in Turkey and how to get from place-to-place, I've gotten very intimidated. I don't know where to start! Well, I know I where to start....in Istanbul....but from there I'd love some suggestions!
ps: we are in our early 30s and like to be active when we travel

Hi - I used to go to Cyprus as a kid every year so maybe I am biased hehe, but I love the place. Palm beach hotel in Larnaca often had weddings on and in October even right at the end of the month the weather was always in the high 70's!!..As far as Turkey is concerned I never have been..hope you have a great wedding..

Our family just spent two weeks in Cyprus last December and loved it!My two adult kids ages 28 and 30 went with us and they enjoyed the island immensely as there are so many things to see and do along with great food/wine and culture.
We flew into Larnaca and spent several days there exploring the eastern side along with a day trip up to Nicosia which is the capital that is shared by Cyprus and Turkey-what a difference between the two but very interesting.
We then went over to Limassol for several days going up to the Trodos mountains and some wineries. The last week we stayed in a fabulous villa near Pathos on the western side which was beyond belief! Check out Blue Coral Villas on both Tripadvisor and Holiday Lettings.uk-they have a new smaller sized villa for two with the same views to die for!
Our family has also gone to Turkey doing Istanbul,Izmir with Ephesus which we also enjoyed. Both countries are amazing and would be perfect for a honeymoon-just depends on whether you want to rent a car and take your time exploring OR be more in the hustle and bustle of cities. Have fun!
