Non Stop Flights to Cairo

My husband and I will be visiting Egypt at the end of the year and want to spend a few days, before our trip starts in Cairo on December 30, in a city that is in the same time zone, or an hour off, where we can get adjusted to the time zone and from which we can get a non-stop flight to Cairo. We were hoping to visit Jerusalem but don't know how easy it will be to get tickets on SinaiAir. Any thoughts or suggestions for other cities? Thank you.

Thank you. I looked at maps and went to many different ticketing and airline sites before posing this question.

The Wikipedia entry for any big airport will provide its direct destinations. Here's Cairo:

Then it's down to cross referencing on a map.

My question would be where are you flying from? I presume it's somewhere where you are crossing a number of time zones. It would make sense to break your journey somewhere that makes sense with your international connections. I know that Turkish Airlines has expanded a lot on the US (now they are flying from San Francisco) so Istanbul could make a lot of sense if you'd booked them for the transatlantic flight. The same would apply to Jordanian via Amman. The other factor to consider when we looked into this is when the flights arrive. For example when I looked into flights to Cairo quite a number of flights from Europe arrived in the middle of the night, after 1am. I didn't want to arrive in Cairo at this time and that determined the flight I took.

WE loved Egypt and wished we'd had more time in Cairo so for us spending more time there would be a priority. Just in case you're interested he and some of my impressions of Egypt on my blog....
