New regulations for parents traveling to or in South Africa with children
Just found out about a new rule regarding travel with children in South Africa and thought I might share this information on this forum.

Good info. Now waiting to see which other countries (anywhere) institute similar regulations, especially for 'kidnapping' child from other parent, which turn out to be horror stories to retrieve child to their home. This should hold true for parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles or even friends.

Yesterday I posted a topic indicating the new rules have been postponed. For some reason the post was removed. Here is a relevant link:

sdb2 - Strange to remove such an important thread/subject, but do agree that time might well be needed for everyone be advised. Otherwise, can't imagine what would be going on at airports where adults do not have appropriate documents for children.
Glad that someone read the initial post, my reply and followed up with info re the postponement.

I agree Sandi on all your points. When the topic disappeared I requested an explanation as to why information so significant to families traveling to SA with children was removed. I haven't received a response so far.
The postponement was in no small part, I'm sure, to the SA travel industry lobbying the govt for relief. I'm guessing too that families were finding it not so easy a process to get original birth certificates in a timely manner. I'm sure airlines were none too happy either because it would have fallen to them to deal with unwanted headaches.
