Need a driver for 5 hrs. in Nairobi. Suggestions?

My family of 3 will be in Nairobi for a 7 hour layover in January. We would like to pre-reserve a driver with a vehicle for about 4 hours, simply to take us from the international airport to Sheldrick's orphanage, to dinner at the Carnivore, and then back to the airport.

I know we could simply hire a taxi upon arrival, but we would like a driver and vehicle, waiting for us when we arrive and who will wait for us at our stops -- more reliable and more personal service.

I don't really think I need a full blown tour guide, such as Kennedy. Does anyone know a company or individual I could contact by email to arrange such service?

Kennedy also has other drivers that could take care of you without the full-blown tour. Of course, Kennedy could do that, as well, if he were free.

Thanks for the thread listings. I'll contact Kennedy at Waymark.

I had already done a search, and was having trouble finding Waymark's website address. The correct address is www.waymarksafari.com.

One of the threads in this forum lists Waymark's web address with an "s" at the end -- i.e., waymarksafaris. This is incorrect and just takes you to a knock off site that is a search engine. That is why I was asking here.

The real Waymark site clearly indicates that they do exactly what I am looking for -- airport transfers, etc.

Thanks to both of you.

The tour operator who is arranging your safari itinerary, can also coordinate the meet/greet at airport, transfers, the activities during your layover and return to airport.

I just returned last night from a two-week working trip to Nairobi. One of the most wonderful aspects of the trip was getting to know Jackson Mwai, a cab driver with Jim Cab whom we also hired as a private driver during our stay.

If you'd like his phone number and email, feel free to send me an email at [email protected].

He was truly an incredibly special person: knowledgable, warm, soft-spoken, funny, reliable...a highlight of our Nairobi experience.

You'd have to work out the finances with him. We paid 5,500 Kenya shillings for a 10-hour excursion to give you some idea, though.

Welcome back, StCirq! Will you be posting a report on what you did on your free days? More importantly, did you find any turkey?

P.S. - that's about what I paid for a taxi day hire last year.

Welcome back StCirq. Would also like to hear about your adventures during your short stay.

Did the fee paid to your wonderful taxi driver include all entry fees, or were those paid separately.

Well, when you have caught up, we'll be all ears.
