Malachite kingfisher, a very small, very beautiful bird.

A got a chuckle out of mineral watching, which could be quite enthralling to a geologist.

It came back to drink after the hyenas left. The image wasn’t clear enough to see any ear tufts, but it was an unspotted cat that looked too big to be an African wildcat. I’ve haven’t seen a caracal either and I’m not 100% sure. Maybe it was just a wildcat...

I was also thinking leopard. Would the spots show up at a distance in infra-red? Definitely not wildcat or serval.

It's been raining all day here in Lisbon. Now I'm watching this. Dreaming of being back in Africa. The soundtrack alone is wonderful...

No not leopard. The tail would have been more visible even if it was scared of the hyenas and it looked too slender and small. You would have seen more of the tail in a wildcat as well and the hind legs looked long. Maybe it was a caracal. I think there are spotlights.
