M/S Monica Nile Cruise
Has anyone taken the M/S Monica nile cruise?
We were thinking about taking the M/S Oberoi Philae, but the price is kind of steep. The travel agent we have been working with in Egypt suggested the M/S Monica as an alternative.
We really want a cruise ship with a private docking spot (I've heard that the cruise ships are moored next to each other at night and make viewing the scenery at night close to impossible), and a smaller passenger load.
Any other suggestions?

I don't know anything about the M/S Monica - but the Oberoi Philae is supposed to be great. We were on the Oberoi Sheharezad and it was wonderful - the Philae is supposed to be even better.
And - sandi can correct me if I'm wrong - but I thought the Oberoi boats had a private docking area in Luxor.

Not sure about the Oberoi boats and their docking rights at Luxor or Aswan... at individual stops along the Nile, it appeared to me that the A&K, Sonesta, Oberoi and Movenpick boats got priority by being at the bulkhead (others tied up behind these, but all on a schedule moving in/out as boats come/go).
I do know that the Movenpick boats have private docking at Crocodile Island (Luxor), where their resort is located. A short walk from boat to resort where the shuttle bus (or taxi) gets guests to the Corniche where the other boats are docked.
Movenpick has 2/boats, with the newest about 3/yrs old. We were on the Movenpick I and it was wonderful. Believe 100/cabins and even with a few groups and plenty of individual travelers, never felt crowded (OP should check specs on their newer boat). Also, the original boat may have since been refurbished.

Sandi - you are right. As I am remembering (oh - a mind is a terrible thing to waste!!), our Oberoi boat in Aswan was docked alongside other boats and we had to walk thru them to get to the dock. I honestly don't remember the situation in Luxor.

Grcxxx - as we always managed to be docked bulkhead, imagine our surprise one morning as getting ready to tour (Edfu... and the afternoon at Kom Ombo), seeing all these strange people walking thru our boat. That's when I realized how the docking was handled.
However, except during certain times - deboating (is that a word, like deplaning?) do you have this situation and it's only on the main deck thru a narrow area - from one boat to another. Once your boat is sailing or docked for the night, no "strangers" wandering about, all safely ensconced on their own boat.
