Mosquitos in Seychelles

Did I spell that right? Anyway, do any of the Seychelles experts on this board know if this is a problem in November? They don't bite me for some reason, but make my husband miserable so we need to plan ahead.
Thanks.

babette -

The Seychelles are completely tropical - hot and humid - but I wasn't concerned about, nor did I see any mosquitos. There is no malaria issue on the islands. But there are "creepy crawlers" - like geekos and others, but nothing bigger.

Do be prepared for rainshowers in November, or maybe a few hours, maybe a day, but no lightening.

To be safe, of course, it doesn't hurt to have repellent with you and apply as/if needed to puts ones mind at ease. We had repellent as we had arrived from East Africa - I didn't need any on the Islands.

Babette,

I am the king of mosquito bites. Nobody gets more bites than me! I had absolutely no problem on Praslin island at Lemuria, in fact I stopped using repellent. I believe I read that you are staying at Banyan Tree. The 5 days we were at Banyan Tree I did get a couple of mosquito bites but that was it (2-3 bites). Normally, I get a lot more than that. I started using repellent which helped. Also, Banyan Tree supplies coils and repellent in all rooms so it was very easy to take the coils/repellent outside to create a mosquito free environment. After we did this, I didn't receive any more bites.

My advice is to bring some repellent with 30% DEET.

Thanks to both of you. Last year we went to Maldives and our pharmacist suggested some pills that you take a few weeks in advance that are some sort of repellent. Forget what they were but it doesn't sound like we'll need them if the king of mosquito bites survived! Thank you.

If you're staying on Praslin or La Digue, bring effective/Deet-based mosquito repellent as the dusk-time skeeters may well drive you inside your
hopefully air-conditioned hotel.

I just returned from a November trip at both the Banyan Tree and Lemuria...and no, mosquitos are not a problem. I think I was bit once in 8 or so days, and that was at dusk. Outside of dusk, mosquitos are almost non-existent.

However, the rain was annoying.
