Morrocco

Any latest info on travelling to Morrocco? 2 Canadians on a BMW motorcycle traveling into Morrocco. We are currently in Portugal and locals say it is dangerous....so far we have logged 6500 km and all is well. It may be like the travel advisories to Mexico..it is so safe!,, Can anyone give us current info?
Thanks Wenday

The FCO are still advising people to travel to Morocco, website http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/

You might also want to check out this website http://www.voyage.gc.ca/countries_pays/menu-eng.asp

Go on your trip, but be cautious, as you normally would.

There is no travel restrictions recommended for Morocco by the British Foreign Office, see the link above. However, the whole of the Mediterranean coast of North Africa is currently very unstable and wouldn't be my choice at the moment. In addition, roads in Morocco are notoriously unsafe for tourists, especially motor bikes.

The local police are corrupt and will try and fine you without much good reason and then pocket the "fines".

horizonsunlimited.com motorbike specific info

virtualtourist.com Maroc

excellent current info

travel.state.gov Maroc fair amount of unrest currently

recent terrorist bombing of a tourist cafe.

Personally if I went would stay out of big cities

There is a culture of "Baksheesh"(bribes corruption)

Pay bribes for everything or be very hassled.

insuremytrip.com extemely wise there currently.

Beautiful Country though I love the Atlas Mountains

Simply amazing...
