I had been investigating a trip to Morocco this coming year. I am a bit concerned in regards to the election of a more conservative Islamic government. Has anyone an opinion in this matter? I am not sure how much religion is taken into account there. I would be traveling with a female friend (I am male). I understand not to make faux pas in regards to customs but would like to have a good feeling about traveling there. While in Istanbul last year I spoke with many people about their religious history while visiting the mosques and everyone was very nice and courteous. I'd hope that things would be the same.
Thanks.

I don't think the country has changed even if the government has more members from their government is more of a centrist Islamist party. The election just happened, and I doubt very much that the parliament will change all the laws overnight. Further, the standards for non-Moroccans are different than for Moroccans anyway. But I don't think you should be concerned.
for the govenment will be changed in against the Tourists, as it will not effect negatively for the tourism Issue, because it's a main industry in Morocco.
