Morocco over Christmas
Hello!
35 year old couple traveling to Marrakesh for 6 days in late December (22-28). This is a first trip to the country for us and we are looking for ideas on how to utilize the days. Originally, we planned to take a 4 day trek to the Sahara, Todra Gorge, etc.. but some folks has said that this may not be the best time of year for this and should instead focus in and around Marrackesh. Is there enough to do in the city and the surrounding area for 5-6 days? Should be consider doing this and taking a day trip to either Essouira or Ait Ben Hoddou? We love exploring new cultures.

Hello i am a new member here and just saw this post. I live in the Netherlands and my parente are from morocco. I should definitely go to marrakech it is a beautifull place especially for tourists, but true the sahara its too complicated to go in that time of the year. Essaouira i should go and places in marakkech and around you have alot of nice places out of marakkech in the neighborhood such as waterfalls places where u can ride a mountainbike.

Photos also cover Ait Benhadou which you will enjoy, and also some views of the desert (Erg Chebbi) which you won't have time for.
Marrakech is the king pin...an intriguing day trip is also included..the remote village of Fintt...about a half hour from Ouarzazate...a gravel road and turn-the-clock-back environment. We were the ONLY visitors that day.(which was a distinct highight). Stop in at the very welcoming La Berbere Hotel in "O" (see pix) and the desk will give you very straight-forward directions.
Be sure to learn the word "La'a" it means NO !! It should help you fend off the thousands of annoying touts all over the country..including hordes of kids begging for money.
