MoneyBurns Photo Essay Sept. Trip

Time constraints are keeping me from writing a full trip report; so for now I chose some pics and hope you can enjoy the trip of our lifetime through our eyes. We are not professional photogs nor do we hope to be; we enjoy the experience and are happy if we get some shots that represent the trips we take.
For those of you who did not read my millions of questions throughout the last year, our itinerary started in Northern Kenya at Ol Malo, a beautiful lodge owned by Rocky and Colin Francombe and run by them and their son Andrew and his gifted and lovely girlfriend, Chylu..it was a favorite of ours, and very unforgettable as they have lived in Kenya their entire lives, run the lodge themselves, take care of the local Samburu tribe and spent an enormous amt. of time with their guests. We had many fun evenings listening to their stories of living in No.Kenya and I highly recommend going to the remote area. We loved it and did not want to leave.
Onto the Mara and 7 nights - 4 at Ngare Serian, 2 at the Mobile Camp and one more at the Main Camp. We were fortunate to have a superb stay enhanced by our guide Daniel and driver Oyango. Having a private vehicle and guide/driver the entire time only made each day better than the day before.
The staff at Serian treated us like family and though others have had negative experiences I can say for us it was exceptional. I don't know why it is inconsistent; but for our 7 nights it was magical and I have nothing negative to say; but I am sad others did not have our experience.
Mr. MoneyB and I have been traveling together for 30 years and this trip to Kenya is one that we will never forget...the people especially. Though we initially planned the trip to see the game, a most pleasant surprise is to fall in love with the people, the landscape and the sun, sky, and moon of Africa. As everyone has said, it gets in your blood and becomes a passion to return. I keep the dust on my shoes to remind me of every day I was fortunate to experience the life of Kenya.
I hope the link works to the UNEDITED pics (Mr. MoneyB wanted to go through each one and do that enhance thing, but I am off on another adventure and at least wanted something to give back to the forum before months went by)
Thank you everyone for all the kind input, recommendations, encouragement and of course your own experience for us to live with. The many trip reports now coming in have reminded me of our beautiful time with Kenya in our hearts. I hope you all enjoy seeing it through our eyes and the fun and love we experienced during our stay.

uhoh, hmm, when I go back and click the above all come up, so I don't know what has happened. I did say to share for all, so if someone else can click on it and see what happens I'd appreciate it. Not only am I not a photog I am not computer savvy! Sorry if it is not working but I will keep trying!

Well I just had a friend click on it and 320 photos came up; so I dont know why it did not work.
Maybe someone else will weigh in on this; I was just trying to share a trip experience.

Hi MB, I'm only getting one photo too. Not sure why as I'm not really familiar with Flickr. I tried looking at sets/galleries etc. but only found one pic. I hope you can get it to work as I would love to see the collection.

On this one I was told to add "guest passes" this is getting ridiculous...but hopefully someone will enjoy it and book a trip to our most favorite place on earth.

Oh my, moremiles thank you for checking; I think anyone clicking in needs to go to the "set 320 Kenya " as there are several (as I experimented) but SET 320 has captions (my version of a mini-trip report) and forget the rest....thank you for letting me know; I have stressed all night over this and need another trip! I am so thrilled you saw our wonderful trip through our "eyes"
So now I can rest...and dream about my next trip to Magical Kenya!

I'm half way through. Some lovely photos. I really like the ones of the Samburu, so beautiful. The country up north is magnificent, makes me long to get there. Some pretty good and stylish spear throwing … back to them a little later.

Kath, From what I was told - and not in southern speak, they are the MAIN warriors, as opposed to the ones in red, and when the tribes fight (and they do in Samburu - 33 were killed a month before we arrived) so the warriors who go to war wear white. Someone else may know more, but that was what we were told and it was our very first night & we were in a state of exhilaration (and jet lag) --I loved the Samburu...we asked if we could give them something for their hospitality - singing- dancing & interacting with us....not at all touristy, pics were fine and they loved seeing them on our cameras. The Francombes told us they did NOT take money...don't use it; don't need it...but the women need goats as the men leave for weeks or months to tend the cattle --and the only way to feed their children was with goats..so as Mr. Moneyb said, "they got our goats"as we purchased a few for the women and children..(through the Francombes of Ol Malo) ...what a place to be...incredible -no $$$$ exchanged at all. Where do you find that????
Our guide's cousin lived in the village so it was very easy. At first they were shy; then they opened up and started showing their stuff...it was awesome -and remember, our very first night. We were in heaven. I can only imagine if we had more time to go back and spend time with them... I saw the women every day beading -they beaded my hat you see in later pics and I cherish it) and they became very friendly even though we could not speak..smiles were everything. I will never forget those days in Laikipia.

Twaffle, as a former resident you owe yourself a photo journalist trip to the area. It was OUR favorite place. Maybe not as many game (unfortunately, the day we saw the retriculated giraffe and grevy zebras, we were in such a hurry, we left a bag at the lodge with the cameras! ..but I have them in my heart and mind. The only one posted is from the ride to the lodge!
Of course we loved our time in the Mara, but if we went back (and we will) most of the time will be in No. Kenya. It is undisturbed and we loved that.

Thanks for the explanation on the Samburu, I didn't even think that they'd still be fighting, on the other hand I guess, why wouldn't they be?
My dream is to be lucky enough to meet them in their own environment. Not in a touristy setting where a few "clock in", but rather the "real deal". Will be in Samburu for 2 days and the lodge does offer a visit to the local village. I'm just hoping it's nothing too touristy.
There's still 8 months till my adventure even begins and some days that feels like an eternity.
