Hi. We spent 3 nights on Mnemba Island last Sept. and really enjoyed it. My husband really wants to go back. As soon as I saw the pictures of Mnemba I really wanted to go and experience what it would be like on basically a private island. I basically planned our whole safari around the availabiltity of Mnemba.

It was very relaxing. We had our children with us, so we were usually playing at the beach or looking at the tidepools. We didn't do the traditional pre-dinner drinks or after dinner chat. The food was wonderful. I usually do not eat very much fish, but I thought the fish here was great. Breakfast is made to order, with fresh juice and tropical fruit. One of the best things is the warm roasted cashews that they bring you with your drinks. We could not get enough of them. At night it looks just like the post card, with the lighted candles and tables on the beach, where you can hear the waves.

I cannot get over how soft the sand was. There are also sea turtle hatchings, but the nest by our hut did not hatch when we were there. They promissed that they would wake us up in the middle of the night if it hatched.

There are very cute little miniture
DikDik around, which are the size of small dogs. There are also coconut crabs that walk around.

If you are a scuba diver, just don't forget your diving card like my husband did. He finally ended up going on a exlorer dive, for a fee, so he could at least go in. If you have your card you can go on 2 dives a day which are included in the price.

I would highly recommend this place. If you send me your e-mail I would be happy to forward you some pictures of the island.

Heather

It is certainly the top choice on Zanzibar if privacy, watersports (especially diving, snorkeling, swimming) and beach are important to you!

We just returned from Mnemba Island. The atoll is fantastic with fine white sandy beach and clear turquoise water. For total privacy in the most amazing setting, this CC Africa property cannot be beat. We had a fabulous butler who brought us snacks and served our meals. Laundry was done immediately and the island furnishes sarongs to wear when just hanging out.

Nickname of the island....paradise!

The only objection I can imagine would be a person who did not want to make the bumpy road trip to the beach ( you take a boat to the island). It is 1 and 1/2 hours from Stone Town each way.

Thanks! Do you think three nights is adequate? How was the food? Any more details would be appreciated!
