London Destinations Show - Julian?

Julian
As I mentioned on the other thread, I have a spare free ticket for this show. I'm planning to go this Saturday.
I doubt the postal service will get one to you in time if I send it now but if you want to arrange to meet me there just email me.

to the top...

Julian, if you're interested, get in toucb tonight.

You may be able to pick up free tickets elsewhere - unlike the Adventure Travel Show Destinations hand out lots and lots of free tickets. This must be a slow year as I've only received three, each admitting two people!

Hi there Gizzy!
It's an annual show about travel held in London (and also Birmingham, I think) at about the same time every year.
Tour operators, country and regional representative agencies, travel magazines, guide book companies, travel clothing and accessories retailers --- buy a stand and us punters can wonder around seeking inspiration, gathering brochures, buying stuff and just soaking up travel.
It's also usually where the Wanderlust travel photo of the year finalists are displayed.
There are often also cultural displays, theatres where one can attend lectures on various travel destinations or learn about photography, travel writing and so on.
I don't enjoy this show, Destinations, as much as the Adventure Travel Show that I went to a couple of weeks ago (and last year it was also a couple of weeks before Destinations) as, contrary to it's name, that show isn't just about low-budget or highly-active travel but also about more off-the-beaten-path travel with many smaller operators represented. That one does charge quite a high admission fee (given the kind of event it is) and no freebie tickets are available.
Destinations, which is on in London this weekend, seems to have more mainstream stands so there is less overall that is of interest to me. I think the stands cost more to hire so only bigger companies do so. Then again it's easy to pick up free entrance tickets so it's still worth going.

Well that was nice - Julian didn't manage to get hold of me before the show but was able to pick up a free ticket too (they are easy to come by) and called me when he arrived...

We sat in on an Expert Theatre talk together about travel photography - two of the speakers were picture editors for travel publications, grabbed a quick sarnie and pootled around a bit...

I had already done a lot of it before Julian pinged me so I left him there.

Definitely more mainstream operators (than the Adventure Travel Show) which isn't so good for me because I already know about them all but a few interesting operators/ tourist agencies plus a chance to say hi to a few friends in the industry and pick up a couple of free magazines...

No good renewal deals today though other than Travel Africa which I renewed at the other show but suggested to Julian he renew here as his subscription had lapsed and their show deal is good value...

Nice to see you Julian!
